Missed Jan posting….

OK, into February. It’s Super Bowl Sunday and no one here seems to care much. The only 3 teams that I wanted to see there didn’t make it. They are the 49ers, Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. All did well, but couldn’t make it. Of the 2 playing, I have different reasons for them to succeed.  Mathew Stafford has always been a good quarterback but never in 13 years had a team that could come together. It would be nice for him to get a super bowl ring even though I don’t like the Rams or their owners. On the other hand, Cincinnati has never won a play off game in forever. And they are playing the Rams, so a win for them would be good.  The half time shows have turned into political, BS, nasty rapping, skin showing shows that haven’t been worth the time to watch for years. Last years ads weren’t worth the time either, although I just watched the Jeep ad with all of the animals and it was really clever, so  maybe this year will be better. No one seemed to care enough to watch any NFL games this year. The idiot/ass that started the flag protest really killed any interest that most of us had. The jerk, who is only 1/2 black, raised by a well off white family, protesting the past history of the black race was so stupid as to be insulting to everyone, especially his family. However, at the last minute, Macie decided to have a semi-non football party at their house today. Just a really good excuse to have a family get together.

On to other things

Back surgery has been postponed. With the new epidural procedure, I will get to try and regenerate muscle and tendon health to reposition the damage and relieve the bone to bone on nerve situation. We’ll see how this works out. It is enabling me to work on projects that I’ve wanted to do. Eloise and I have had the same dining room table since we took a motorcycle trip up the California coast in the summer of 1979. It is only 7’ long and seats 6 comfortably. Amanda had 3, so when Adam got married, that extended our family to 7. Now with Amanda’s boyfriend and Adam’s 2.5 kids, we are looking at 10.5. So I have crafted an extension to our table. Being that it is an oval, it made making an extension tough. Before, when we had Eloise’s mom and dad and Bob’s family, Larry and Kat and my mom and dad; we just had a bunch of tables. We had over 20 at that time.

Well, I decided to create an extension so that we could all sit together. I cut the extension to fit the oval end of the existing table and turned 4 legs to blend in with the pedestal of the original. This will extend the table by about 30 inches. Being squared and this end enables more seating too. I then cut the extra 4 feet of top and created another table, with the same legs, to extend the extension another 4 feet. So the extension enables a comfortable 10 seats. With both extensions, we will get 12 to 14 easy.table extension (3)table extension (2)table extension (1)table extension (4) The tops of the extensions will be finished, as will the top of the old table, as black leather. However, as I don’t have a shop and the weather is quite literally freezing, that will wait until the spring or summer. Sealing off the garage, floor to ceiling (including the floor) is troublesome and tiring.

Eloise is experimenting with tablecloths, runners and place settings. She wants to have it settled by the time that Doug and Karen come to visit. In order to stay out of trouble and make brownie points with her, I will post pictures when she has it complete and ready for display
