I concede. Climate change exists

Global warming is a bad joke, but climate change does exist. Yesterday it was 84 degrees and dry. Today it is 57 degrees and raining. In four days it is expected to be 86 degrees and dry. Yep, the climate changes with regularity.

I worked on Friday, 2 days ago, and it was comfortable inside the warehouse. However when I went outside for a break, it was over 100 degrees in my truck. That was a lesson on what snacks to not leave in the truck. Anything with caramel and chocolate are a no go in the future. Hot Gatorade isn’t that great either. So, water and crunchy stuff. I was pleasantly surprised that the warehouse was kept fairly cool. We’ll see how it fairs in the heat of mid-summer.

With the sun coming out and the rain still coming down, I’m trying to figure out how to slow down the grass growth and still keep it green. We have a lot of grass and when mowing it every 2 weeks at the highest mower settings, it fills up four 55 gallon trash cans. And then using the whacker, edging 300 feet of wood fence, 400+ feet of concrete and  300+ (and counting) trees and bushes……. When it comes time to start trimming the bushes, we’ll need many more cans. Stuffing into trash bags is no fun.

Fun scheduled for June 25th

There is a wonderful car show scheduled this month. It will have classic and modern show cars. Last year they had over 200 cars and have already registered over that amount this year. They may have up to 300. It is located at Eagle Christian Church on Short Street in Eagle, Idaho. It will run from 7am to 2pm. There will be food trucks and ice cream as well as snacks and drinks. Admission is free. I can’t wait to see it this year.

April–May–June Showers

Here we are going into June and it is raining still. We still have a few trees to plant and will have to wait until the rain stops. So far we have planted over 160 trees and over 50 plants and shrubs, such as azaleas and peonies. We still have an evergreen to plant. It is to replace a tree that died due to bore-beetles. We saved the rest. Then we have 21 18”-24” Douglas firs to plant along the south property line.

Last weekend, Adam, Macie, Norah and Wiatt came by to help me plant the azaleas and peonies along the west fence inside the private yard. I meant to take pictures of Norah helping Adam dig holes for the plants and plant them. However in the moment, I forgot! We bought a 7’ pine tree to replace the one that we lost to the bore-beetles. Adam and Norah are going to come out this next weekend to tear out the old dead tree and replace it with the new one.

We had a family birthday celebration for Amanda on her birthday in March. We (read Eloise) scheduled a larger celebration for this weekend so that her friends from out of town could schedule and come here to share her 40th. As it turns out, all of the California friends cancelled this week for various reasons. One of her best friends (and our want to adopt daughter) Sara Ault traveled from Houston, Texas to stay with us for a few days and share the time with Amanda. (note: Sara is retiring from the Air Force this year, after 21 years) Dusty and Tammy Taylor were here also. We originally met them in Sacramento, but they proceeded us to Idaho by 10 or 12 years. The party was held at Adam and Macie’s house. It rained in the morning but cleared up in the afternoon so that the pool was put to good use.
